The Dukes of Hazzard - Year In Review
Image
It was a busy year for The Dukes of Hazzard and the cast. There were plenty of shindigs for fans to attend, plenty of chances to meet the cast and crew, and of course, the Dukes were frequently in the news.

In October, Ben Jones led a convoy of General Lees in the annual Hazzard Run from Nashville to Gatlinburg, TN.

The Dukes of Hazzard Family Reunion held on September 29th in Livingston Parish, LA was a rousing success, exceeding the planners' expectations. There's talk of another Family Reunion event for 2013.

In August, Dukes fans were once again up in arms over the Confederate flag. Rumors were swirling that Warner Brothers was going to stop licensing Dukes of Hazzard products with the Confederate flag. Fans spoke up, insisting the flag stay on the beloved General Lee. Warner Bros. says the flag will stay. Score one for the good guys!

August also saw Hazzard Homecoming, put on by Ben Jones and Miss Alma. There was plenty to see and do. And of course, all the cast was there to meet n' greet the fans.

The Northeast Ohio Dukes kept the General Lee flying. In June, they were a smashing success at Hazzard Comes To Galax. They put these show on free, out of funds from their own pockets. If you'd like to help them continue, visit the Northeast Ohio Facebook page to find out how.

There were rumors that there was another Dukes of Hazzard movie in the works. From the info we dug up, it looked like the script might stick a bit closer to the Dukes roots. Perhaps in 2013, we'll hear more.

In April, the General Lee invaded the Knight Rider festival and stole the show, like only the General Lee can. It did nothing for DOH/KR relations and the  General Lee vs. KITT rivalry continues.

March saw The Dukes of Hazzard included in a Warner Bros. exhibit at the Paley Center. It was a delightful surprise, considering WB's hot and cold treatment of the franchise.

Speaking of hot and cold treatment, CMT has been on again, off again (mostly off again), with airing of the Dukes. We hope 2013 brings renewed interest in the show and we can watch it regularly again on CMT.

In February, we lost one of the greats. Dukes stuntman Al Wyatt, Jr. passed away. He left a legacy that will continue to thrill and entertain for decades to come. He will be missed.

We started off 2012 with a bang! Fans joined Tom and John in concert at the Fallsview casino in mid January and Bubba Watson had the high bid on LEE1 at the Barrett-Jackson auction. The auction was big news with Dukes fans. The LEE1 was expected to bring much more, so some fans were a little disappointed. We know one fan who wasn't disappointed... Bubba Watson!

Looking ahead to 2013, we have the Reunion in Georgia coming up in March, so mark your calendar. If next year is anything like this, there'll be plenty for Dukes fans to do!
