Dukes of Hazzard December to Remember!

Howdy from HazzardNet!  Christmas is just around the hairpin turn, and we've got news, gifts, and all the usual yap for you in this months' newsletter!

HazzardNet Annual Christmas Party
First up, our annual social event of the year, the HazzardNet Christmas Party, will be held on two dates,  December 11th and December 18th, running from 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time to midnight.   If you've never attended before, basically this is a big chat session where we gather in the HazzardNet chat room to mingle, share Christmas carols, toss a fruitcake, and so on.

While we can't make any promises about who will show up, or when, ordinarily the HazzardNet Staff will show up at various points to ensure chaos.   Sometimes a special guest will also appear by invitation.  We've sent the invitation, and whether or not he shows up, we can't predict.  Because of this, we can't tell you who we invited, but that's par for the course around here.

Meanwhile, our local Christmas cheerleader Nasty the Reindeer may stop by in the late hours of the night, for the benefit of the bad boys and girls who have no reasonable expectation of Santa. We apologize in advance.

Welcome Y'all!

Next, we'd like to give a big howdy to several newcomers who registered for the Forums recently:  "WB General Lee", "NOGL", "gojrracing", "Jeffmsu", "qiu qiu", "chainsaw", "AndysDukes" and "cefiro_drifta".

Of this group, "WB General Lee" is an owner of an official Warner Bros. General Lee that was used in production of the big-screen 2005 Dukes of Hazzard movie.  Meanwhile, Jeffmsu is the proud owner of a beautiful General Lee replica.  Both of them have shared pictures of their wheels with us on the HazzardNet Forums.   We always appreciate hearing the stories and experiences of General Lee owners.

We thank all our newcomers for joining the Forums and contributing to the discussions there.  Sal-ute!

Technical Advancement!

To give the world a better shot at peace and happiness, we've installed a smarmy toolbar at the bottom of the HazzardNet Forums.   Now, sharing HazzardNet with your buddies on Facebook or following shenanigans on Twitter is easier than ever, one click does it for ya.  Also check out the cool YouTube: Dukes of Hazzard gallery link on the toolbar that gives you instant display of all related videos.

Remember, your feedback counts, and after initial reports of performance issues with the toolbar, we were able to localize the bandwidth issues and speed things up.   As we move into 2011 we have more upgrades in store, so don't be shy about sharing your opinions!

December Fan of the Month!

Well, this is a little awkward, but...turns out, the HazzardNet Staff was nominated for December's recognition.   After reading the post made by the nominator, we humbly and gratefully accept the honor.   You can read all the comments here.  Thank you, sincerely.

The Dukes: The Animated Series

Pre-sales of this rare Dukes of Hazzard Cartoon, known as "The Dukes: The Animated Series" have being going well.   It appears, from our count, that you should still be able to get in on the first 400 orders that qualify for an autograph by James Best, who played Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane on The Dukes of Hazzard.  He also narrated the voice of Rosco in the cartoon series and did a heck of a job.   If you missed our complete write-up in last month's newsletter, you can read it here.   If you'd like to go ahead and order a copy of this highly collectible DVD, you can do so by clicking here.

Awright, that looks like everything...what? More? Again?  More stuff in The Annual HazzardNet Christmas and All Things Yule (want) Giftin' Guide?  MaryAnne, do you know what the bulk mail rate is gonna be on that catalog?

Oh, right, this is online.  Can't blame me for tryin'.   Ahem...

The Annual HazzardNet Christmas and All Things Yule (want) Giftin' Guide!   This has been updated since our last newsletter to include a few more hand-picked goodies, and we'll probably have one more update for you as we close in on Christmas.

This time we've thrown in a couple of classic Burt Reynolds and Ron Howard movies you may or may not know, plus a couple music recommendations that would be a proud part of any Dukes of Hazzard fan's tune collection.

Wrap-Up

As we close in on Christmas, we'd like to remind everybody to stay safe as the stores get hectic and the roads get busy with holiday travel.   Give yourself plenty of extra time to get where you need to go this time of year.   If 2010 has left your pockets too light to give a gift...give a hug.   If you've got change to spare, then please share, Salvation Army buckets are everywhere.

We'll have one more quick newsletter before Christmas, full of sentiment and mush and whatever else is leftover from the Christmas parties.  Meantime, our best to you for a warm and peaceful holiday season!

Sincerely,

The HazzardNet Staff
MeadowMufn, MaryAnne, and Brian

In this edition: The HazzardNet Annual Christmas Party, more hat tips to new members, the new HazzardNet toolbar, the Dukes Animated Series,  updates to the Giftin' Guide.
